What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is state of profound relaxation brought on by suggestion. It is an absorption to your inner experience. A state of mental focus, where the conscious mind can relax, and step aside and suggestions can be offered to the deeper part of you. It is a very Natural, normal and safe state. have you ever driven somewhere, and reached your destination and then don?t remember much of the journey, and still arrived safely, or perhaps watched a movie and was moving with the characters completely shut out your surroundings and were totally absorbed into the story. They are all example of hypnosis at some level.

Creativity and imagination, memory, and responsiveness are all heightened in hypnosis, At all times you are in control of your experience.

I have seen unusual things demonstrated on stage (or TV). How does that work?

Hypnosis is a tool and can be used for many areas including entertainment. A stage hypnotist screens the audience and chooses the most susceptible and most imaginative individuals for the show , who willingly go along with the suggestions. And it works. The same is true for clinical hypnotherapy: willing individuals come along to change or improve aspects of their lives. And it works!

What is a Clinical Hypnotherapist?

Is essentially A psychotherapist who is trained in using Hypnosis. There is debate amongst clinicians as to whether hypnosis by itself is therapeutic, or if it is a case that hypnosis by itself does nothing other than put you in a relaxed state and that the changes, shifts, learning?s and connections to resources are brought about by what is said and offered and suggested during hypnosis. We have experienced both, with some, just becoming quiet, and becoming more internally absorbed has been extremely therapeutic and others absolutely benefitted from the delivery of the therapy and hypnosis was merely a tool to aid in the facilitation. Either way, his is what a clinical hypnotherapist does. We skill to develop strategic interventions that are delivered, coerced, drawn out, experienced or learnt during hypnosis.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Almost anyone can be hypnotised, some more easily than others. Generally it is broken into 3 categories. It is estimated that up a small percentage up to around 10% have a fantastic ability or talent for hypnosis and go into a very deep hypnotic state easily. It is almost the same percentage at the other end of the scale. In that some people have a fantastic ability to enjoy a lighter hypnotic state. For the majority of people they fall somewhere in between. The good news is the more you do it, the more your hypnotic abilities strengthen. It must be known thought great outcome are not based on the depth of your hypnosis. You can just as easily get what you need from a light state of deep trance or a deep state of light trance?

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on three components: your state of mind, the problem that is being worked on & how well you respond to Hypnotherapy. This is not a treatment which requires you to come for many sessions however, because Hypnotherapy works rapidly. For most, the formal part of the therapy only requires from two to five sessions. Remember however, that Hypnotherapy continues to process in the subconscious mind, long after the sessions finish!
