I have seen unusual things demonstrated on stage (or TV). How does that work?
Hypnosis is a tool and can be used for many areas including entertainment. A stage hypnotist screens the audience and chooses the most susceptible and most imaginative individuals for the show , who willingly go along with the suggestions. And it works. The same is true for clinical hypnotherapy: willing individuals come along to change or improve aspects of their lives. And it works!
What is a Clinical Hypnotherapist?
Is essentially A psychotherapist who is trained in using Hypnosis. There is debate amongst clinicians as to whether hypnosis by itself is therapeutic, or if it is a case that hypnosis by itself does nothing other than put you in a relaxed state and that the changes, shifts, learning?s and connections to resources are brought about by what is said and offered and suggested during hypnosis. We have experienced both, with some, just becoming quiet, and becoming more internally absorbed has been extremely therapeutic and others absolutely benefitted from the delivery of the therapy and hypnosis was merely a tool to aid in the facilitation. Either way, his is what a clinical hypnotherapist does. We skill to develop strategic interventions that are delivered, coerced, drawn out, experienced or learnt during hypnosis.
